Energy Efficiency Project
Policy measure

According to ECLAC (2010), most of the energy efficiency projects carried out in Mexico are funded by the national public operating budgets of the respective ministries. However, this is not entirely the case for the Trust for Saving Electricity (FIDE) which developed the Energy Efficiency Project in Mexico.

For this FIDE project, the technical and economic assistance which was made available between 1997 and 2005 was supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which provided a loan of USD 23.4 million. The equivalent amount was funded by the Mexican government. The aim of the project was to develop a market for energy efficient equipment (ECLAC, 2010).
